HGTV Parody Network

==============================
ZWTV
==============================
Think about a television (YoutTube) network that is all about Zedworks. We can expand into all sorts of different programming -- news shows, minecraft "sports" competitions, C-SPAN type coverage of council meetings, etc. -- but we can easily start by spoofing HGTV programs and articles.

==============================
HOUSE HUNTERS
==============================
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSfqm_JHyJs
House Hunters International: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AA8xf0JyDg
House Hunters follows individuals, couples, or families searching for a new home, with the assistance of a real estate agent. In each episode, the buyers must decide between three properties, ultimately choosing one before the end of the episode. The show concludes by revisiting the buyers in their new home a few weeks or months later, where they describe the changes they've made and the effect the new home has on their life.

Scene 1
Buyer introduces self (make up ridiculous profession and backstory)

Buyer talks about wish list

Some wish list items...
--automatic pumpkin farm
--village adjacent
--nether hub connection
--beach front
--extreme hills
--room for horses
--guest bedrooms
--proximity to xp grinder
--neighbors
--easy access to strip mining

Buyer mentions budget (in dB; even though we will just make up fake pricing and no actual selling will take place)

Scene 2, Part 1
Buyer tours first location with realtor. Realtor points out cool little things.

Scene 2, Part 2
Buyer discusses pros and cons of 1st location.

Scene 3, Part 1
Buyer tours second location with realtor. Realtor points out cool little things.

Scene 3, Part 2
Buyer discusses pros and cons of 2nd location.

Scene 4, Part 1
Buyer tours third location with realtor. Realtor points out cool little things.

Scene 4, Part 2
Buyer discusses pros and cons of 3rd location.

Scene 5, Part 1
Buyer compares each of the three locations.

Scene 5, Part 2
Buyer reveals choice.

I think the buyer should have a friend come along to help make the decision. So the whole cast of a single episode would consist of the realtor, the buyer, and the buyer's buddy.

==============================
COMMERCIALS
==============================
And we should make commericals! They can feature shops or mob farms or vacation spots.
Also, what about Public Service Announcements? Really cheesy commercials that talk about the importance of a safety bucket or never letting the light level in your home get too low.

==============================
LOVE IT OR LIST IT
==============================
http://www.hgtv.com/shows/love-it-or-li ... it6-videos

Love It or List It has a current homeowning couple or family to decide between keeping their newly renovated current home (known on the show as "Love It") or buying a new home and selling their current one (known on the show as "List It"). Hilary Farr, renovates and designs the current home, and David Visentin presents new possible homes.
Each episode begins with an overview of the family, their history in ownership of the home, their current use of the home, and the problems they are encountering which necessitate the need for change. The couple or family present Hilary with a list of things they wish to change in their current home, and the amount of money that they are willing to budget for renovation work. They then present David with a list of things that they request in a new home, and a maximum purchase price they wish to consider.
Hilary then tries to meet the couple's current home requirements by redesigning and renovating the current home. David presents the family for-sale homes, and takes into account their feedback to find increasingly more accurate options. Often the homeowners are shown as being divided on whether to keep their home, with one individual wishing to stay in the current home and the other wishing to move. Hilary and David are shown to have a competitive dynamic, and each hope to win over both homeowners.
Common challenges faced by Hilary are an inadequate budget to complete the entire request list from the homeowners, often due to discovery of unforeseen costs after renovation has started. Common issues for David, meanwhile, include the problem of keeping the homeowners in their desired neighborhood; often wanting to live within the same school district or near family members.
At the end of the show, the homeowners are shown the result of Hilary's renovation work, and David reveals the increased value of their renovated home. David then demonstrates how the improved value of their current home places the homeowners closer to affording the new home he has shown them; and reminds them of any perks of the new home that may not have been accomplished by renovation alone. At this stage the couple proceeds with their decision.

This show would need a homeowner and a buddy, the designer, and the realtor.

NAKED AND AFRAID
==============================
We could develop a "Naked and Afraid" program. A race between two players that are sent out into the wilderness with only one item (no enchanted items or shulkers), no food, and no armor. Players cannot craft armor during the competition (have to stay naked).

==============================
STORAGE WARS
==============================
Perhaps a Storage Wars parody, too. All staged, of course.

Yes to all, where do I sign up? Should there be some network executives who are in charge of what gets filmed, whos on the shows, who writes the scripts, picks the "cast" etc?

Yay, Mem! I am glad you like the idea. :D

I did propose it while knowing very little about filming for YouTube, especially with multiple players. And, yes, we probably need some network executives to meet and make decisions about programming. But, with the big network idea in mind, shall we first narrow our focus start working on the first House Hunters episode and commercials? The HH parody seems to be the most straight forward (the others have more "moving" parts).

I can start working on the script (ad libbing will be fine, but since there will be multiple ppl in the episode, let's at least get a rough script together).

Will you help with the first ideas? Shall we make an episode about someone wanting to move to Blutopia or New Iron City or moving to a country estate? After the move area is decided, we need to get permission to feature three different homes.

I will try my hand at being one of the characters. We need a real estate agent, a buyer, and buyer's buddy. Also, let's build a swanky real estate office where the buyer and the buyer's buddy can meet with the agent and talk about the wish list. That can be the set for the opening scene and ending scene.

I have a realms account and we can use that world for set design and recording that doesn't need to take place on ZW (lighten the server load as often as possible since multiple ppl will be recording).

Just making this up as I type. What are your thoughts? :)

Cool idea! I'd like to see it on both Zz and LVS though :)

Okay, things are continuing to evolve...

Outline of notes from most recent chats:
  • Research learn Replay Mod because we need some interesting camera work, probably very little first person.
  • How often do we want to release an episode?
  • Who wants to play characters?
  • Can we get a list of players that don't mind us filming in their bases? Need three Blutopia builds immediately so I can finish the pilot script. (This is a role-play show, no actual buying or selling of your home will take place)
  • Name of the House Hunters parody show? My first proposal was Base Buyers, so we definitely need better ideas.
  • Commercials! Spectatre has great commercial ideas
  • Future show idea: "Pimp My Base" once 1.12 is out
  • Future show idea: Scripted prank show (egging someone's house has been suggested)
  • Future show idea: Parody of American Ninja Warrior
  • Future show idea: News with stock updates (exchange rates) and where sales are up or down. News ticker tape running at the bottom of episodes
  • Create a network name and logo. The editor/director of each episode can upload the episode to their YT channel, but needs to add prominent network logo and links to episodes posted on the YT channels of other directors.
  • no inventories shown in episodes.
  • Chat turned off in episodes
  • Where shall we brainstorm as a group? Here on the forum? Should we also have voice chat brainstorming meetings? Skype? Or, I have access to a web meeting service that can take up to 5 ppl at a time with screen share.
  • Use Box or Dropbox for large file sharing (raw footage that needs to be edited by the director)
  • Which format shall we use to record the audio of multiple players at once? (not Discord)
  • Recording software/editors mentioned: OBS, Adobe Premiere, Wondershare Filmora
  • Filming should be done during the daylight.

I probably forgot some things. But thank you to everyone who chipped in with ideas today! :D

I suggest putting together a script, adding people on skype, try and get a pilot show recorded, pick a recording date and go from there :D

You can use and edit footage from other programs on anything else right? Otherwise people will need a free recording software to use.

Also, an idea for a show would be similar to Jackass, except with random redstone contraptions to kill/hurt you.

Mem, I have a script started for "Base Buyers" -- but I need three people to give us permission to film in their bases (preferably bases in Blutopia as I started it out as someone wanting to move from a swamp to the "Big City")

I successfully got OBS and the Replay Mod working on one of my computers. Will look into Skype.

Using After Effects, I cobbled together a little network bumper, but I need a nice flyover shot of something embodies Zedwork for the background. What build or area on the server is like "Oh yeah! Zedwork is awesome!"?

I'll look into Skype this evening.

Sway, great ideas!

Amendment to original proposal: I just ran across a series impulseSV has called "Naked & Scared" where he and another streamer run around in skivvy skins on hardcore, so I will cut that show from possible programming.
