[LVS] New Warp Ideas if I'm Mayor

Postby Zecrux » Mon Aug 24, 2015 7:41 pm

Hello everyone,

I want to become the mayor of the new warp that will be created after the upcoming council meeting.

I have some great ideas for the new warp town that I want to share with everyone.

So these are my ideas:

The town would be strictly modern themed, but the town wouldn't be too large, so that new players looking to get to the wilderness only have to run 100 blocks or so.

Upon stepping on the warp post at spawn, you would be teleported into the town hall of the modern town.

Everything in the town would be modern except for the town hall, which would most likely be a rustic themed build. New players who visit this town will have access to a public farm, and must read the rules of the town before exiting the town hall.

I will create prebuilt modern homes, which can be purchased in diamonds/iron/gold. The price will be determined depending on the size of the home and the materials used. ( I will try to make the prices fairly cheap.) Players who purchase a prebuilt home will be allowed to slightly edit the exterior of the home, but if they intend to make major edits to the outside, they would be better off purchasing a plot of land. Although, they will be allowed to fully edit the interior of the home, as well as
create new rooms under the home for storage, animal farming, etc...

As for plots:

Plots are areas of land in the town that players can purchase for a VERY cheap price. For example, a 24x24 plot would be around 5-9 diamonds. Whereas a 10x10 plot would be 1-3 diamonds. These prices will be converted into iron and gold.

Custom plots would be available if a player wants to build a house with a specific design in mind.

Again, all houses in the town would be required to be a modern design.

If a player wants to live in the town, but cannot afford a prebuilt at the time, they may start to live in the house and pay the full charge over time. For example: if the house was 32 diamonds, they could pay back 8 diamonds a week, for four weeks.

Or, if a player wants to live in the town, but does not want a prebuilt, and does not know how to build in a modern fashion, I will provide them with links to youtube videos of youtubers such as Keralis doing modern "Let's build"s. The player can either copy the design of a house they like in a video by a modern designer, or just get some inspiration from it.

And yes, there are plenty of modern homes that are 10x10, 15x15, 20x20, 24x24, and etc...

If a player intends to build a modern mansion on a plot, they must promise to actually know what they're building, and be committed to finishing the mansion, because a half finished modern mansion just sitting on the side of the street isn't exactly
appealing to the human eye.

I actually made a new modern build earlier today, and I will link the picture of it here:

Thankyou for reading this.

TL;DR: I want to be mayor of the next warp town and the town would be strictly modern.

Now its not up to me to choose how people build or where. But isn't new-player warps supposed to be for newly arrived players? How do you figure they can afford a plot when it costs diamonds? Hell even Iron takes a while to get a hold of. If you intend that the build sites closest to your town hall is purchasable and outside that is free for takes then I can understand it better, but still... Also making it a strict modern design is a cool idea, but it limits the new players build potential. In other words, they either can do what you want or go somewhere else.. not a great way to start your time on the server If you ask me. If you want to make a "modern" village, I would suggest you gather a few other like minded and start building a town somewhere, once it gets up to speed, It could make a great Zedling+ warp area. That way, people who like the idea can buy a plot and build there and since they have diamonds in plenty (well some of us) the cost shouldn't be an issue.

As for the title of Mayor in warp villages, I think its up to the council to vote in a person (or possibly up to LadyBountiful and Zedwick) to be the Mayor. But building your own little town (without a warp) makes you your own Mayor.

So, cool idea but I wouldn't suggest it for a new-player warp.

can't the centre be "the old town" (first few streets) then it becomes modern?

I could also make sectors of the town with areas free to build in that don't have to follow the modern design. But for sure, I want a certain area, preferably quite large, to be allocated solely to modern builds. These builds don't even have to be homes. They could be industrial buildings or shops. Anything modern works for me.
