Hey all.

I made a quick visit to re-stock my Zen stall recently. After having swapped out 2 of my trades, and fully restocked my diorite, I decided to take a wander around the lovely Zen market. After wandering for a few minutes, I got a feeling; I felt as if I had walked around a different market. There were far more signs around the market, and if I were to be honest, I'd say it's ruining the market look.

I'm talking about the new stock management signs.

I understand why they are there, but I do feel as if it's a bit much in some instances. Additionally, it seems that this new system isn't being applied everywhere. Because I haven't been incredibly active as of late, I decided to take a look on the Zen wiki page, and at a few of the Zedkins meeting notes. I found that, on the 9th of June, a stock management issue was discussed, however the notes do not suggest anything concretely conclusive ever came out of it. Also, it does not appear to be an official regulation: a vague mention of stock is made in vendor regulations. As far as I'm concerned, the signs don't really have a real purpose except pointing out every minor flaw a shop has, for everyone to see. I had one on my stall, but I still had stuff to sell.

This has led me to ask that Zedkins help to find a solution to this issue.

I suggest that we tone down the signage within the market. I only think a stock management sign should be placed in the stalls area if a stall is completely out of stock. In regards to shops, I feel that maybe if two thirds of the trades were out of stock, then it would be deemed a major stock management issue and would justify a sign. I believe that these signs should be placed inside the shop. If I had a large shop in the merchants quarter, I wouldn't want a message which basically says "You have almost nothing to sell" grafittied outside the door, as that could drive potential customers away.

I'm going to end my proposal there, as it's probably better if we discuss the issue more in-depth at the meeting.

I should have also mentioned there is absolutely no chance I'm going to make this meeting. I'm out of the country for 2 weeks, and there is no way I'd be able to access Minecraft whilst I'm away.

If Zedkins wish to postpone my topic, then go ahead. But to be honest, I think a conclusive regulation/system should be put in place as soon as possible, before the Zen market floods with signs.

To clarify my stance:
I would only be in favour of placing stock management signs inside stalls if the whole stall is out of stock, or there is one chest with 8 (or less) transactions left available.

I would only be in favour of placing stock management signs inside shops if two thirds of the shop's trades were out of stock.

If a system is put in place, I'd ask for it to be made very clear on the Zen wiki page, under Vendor Regulations (or any better place).

If this system is simply there to point out that players need to restock their shops, then I'm not in favour of it. I'm only in favour if there is a concrete, and very clear reason.
(i.e: there is a consequence for not stocking your shop after having being notified, after a certain period of time. After having being notified, give the vendor <x amount of time - I suggest a month>, or they run the risk of <insert consequence here - losing their stall?>)

If I think of anything else to add, I will either talk to a Zedkins member and ask them to raise a point on my behalf, or I will edit THIS post.

I agree that currently, or at least, as of your post, signs are an unnecessary blight on the scenery in Zen and that we need to discuss them.

Shops are claimed by the owners, however, so we couldn't place signs inside shops without their trust. This was brought up in the last meeting, under the topic of lighting in Zen - the roofs of shops weren't being lit up and Zedkins couldn't fix it without trust.

Perhaps for shops we could have a board or something a little out of the way that we can mark out of stock shops on?
That or we discuss the way shops are claimed again.

Only thing is that people would likely not look at the board .... maybe make use of the post office more and put notices for shop stock there? Just an idea to throw out there.

Other than that there is also the question of where will the zedkins be hosted next meeting? Because I forgot to bring it up last time. (my bad) I think Dev or Puls wanted to host.

Meeting places are voted on during the prior meeting, I believe.
Perhaps if Dev or Puls want to suggest a place to meet we could vote for it here on the forums?

I would like to mention that other than Dark's underground redstone shop, KBizzle10's cobblestone shop beside the pier has made no purchases, needs lighting, hardly complete and well it's really a good place to have a shop like that. Zedkins can discuss the fate of the shop at the meeting.
